Happy Friday Everyone,
The above photo is Robert my brother in-law who lives with me, my wife Trish he’s sister of course and our four legged family members. Robert was born with epilepsy and in his 49 years of life has had thousands of seizures, drowned once and was revived, been through several brain surgeries, he’s even had pieces of his brain removed to help reduce or even stop his seizures. He’s volunteered for studies to test new anti-seizure medications and devices not only to benefit himself but to help others with their condition.
Ever since I met Robert some 19-20 years ago, I can not remember a time when he said he was anything other than, excellent. When ever we take Robert into a doctors appointment or the emergency room we always have to let them know that he is a bad self reporter, or no matter what he’s condition, he’s excellent. For the past week Robert has been fighting the chills, sweats, fevers up to 101degrees, congestion with mucous unlike any color brown I’ve seen before and up and down all night hacking for going on three or four days now. Just yesterday while helping Robert I ask him, “Robert can you do me one thing, in all the time I’ve know you I’ve never heard you say you were anything other than great or excellent. Just one time and you don’t have to mean it, can you say, “I feel crappy?” He didn’t even think about it and replied very sternly, “NO, Richard I feel excellent.”
I guess you can say that if you have faith, or a strong positive outlook on things, nothing can get you down, surely not a little thing such as a bug (cold, flu, etc.) Believe and be positive and you will live a very excellent life. Have a wonderful day and God Bless You.
In honor of Robert, the most faithful and excellent person I know and I’m glad he’s part of my family and I’m happy to call him, my brother (I hate the terms step and in-law).

Happy #coffeewithacaregiver

Isn’t attitude well over 50%–perhaps even 75% of overcoming obstacles, embracing meaningful relationships, and aging as well as possible. Bless him–and bless you, your wife and your four legged animals, who must all contribute.

We all do contribute even the foul legged ones. Their right there to need him every day when he gets home from his day program and Taz (puppy) will actually come and get us if Roberts having a seizure. We think he’s wanting to go out, then we see Robert seizing and realize why Taz came and got us. Their amazing what they can do and Robert loves the attention he gets from them.
