SHREDDING FOR THE CAREGIVER, 4/6/15

                    SHREDDING FOR THE CAREGIVER, 4/6/15

Yesterday on Caregiving.com’s, “Let’s Get Organized” chat which is held every first Sunday of the month at 7pm ET (6pm CT & 4pm PT) in Caregiving.com’s Chat Room (located bottom, right on screen), the question of how to organize that pile of paperwork, receipts, medical information sheets and who knows what else.  We started with binders and separation pages, with sections including but not limited to, one page information sheets, medical information, medications, expense sheets and receipts both in one section.  You would also have the shredder at hand  “TIP:  I suggest putting a garbage bag inside the shredder so when full just lift out and throw away.”  This is to shredd any of the unneeded paperwork with all your personal information on it.

Once you get all of your paperwork organized into binders, boxes, shoe boxes, envelopes, bags which ever you decide is best for you because ifits not, you are more likely to not keep it up, it should only take minutes a day or even week to keep it going.  I have been utilizing 3″ binders for 22 years now to keep my medical information pertaining to my back injury in order and I am currently  on volume fourteen.  The main point of this post was to briefly cover wast was discussed in yesterday’s, “Let’s Get Organized Chat” and to show you the following email special I received today from Staples (office supply store),

I would also suggest that you check with your city or counties web site to see if they have days where residents (with proof of address) can drop by with a 30-55 gallon bar garbage bag of papers to be shredded, first bags  “FREE,” then our city charges $5.00 each additional bag.  Both our city and county have these twice a year, along with a “FREE” eWaste (any electronic device) drop off usually at the same location and Hazardous Waste (paint, old or in-needed medications, chemicals, etc.).  I guess you could call it a,  “One Stop Drop.”

“TIP:  Don’t Forget, Caregiving.com’s, “Let’s Get Organized” chat, held every first Sunday of the month at 7pm ET (6pm CT & 4pm PT).  I hope this gives you some ideas on how to organize different areas of your carees as well as your lives.  Special thank to all those who joined in on yesterday’s chat.  I would be happy to answer any questions you may have, just send me an email at PickYourPain@att.net or a message on Facebook at #kreisr1.

Thank you all,
