Robert and International Epilepsy Day’s Card, 02/09/15

The Epilepsy Awareness Squad (http://easquad.org) out of the LoEs Angeles area is class group of high school kids that are, committed to offering information and awareness and to helping others understand this neurological disorder.  They asked Robert if he would for, International Epilepsy Awareness Day, take his photo holding this card with a brief note of himself for them to post today along with many others photos they have coming in.  Robert was more than happy to oblige.  If you get this post, please help the Epilepsy Awareness Squad and Robert with their missions, to get the new out there by forwarding this post on to your contact list to let them know that Epilepsy is still out there and we need a cure.

Robert is my brother in-law and is an amazing person considering, he has had this dreaded disease since birth.  He is now 49 and currently takes 37 pills a day, has seizures anywhere from one or two at a time to dozens in an hour.  He has tried two different brain surgeries, tested other medical devices that did not work on him and he still wakes up everyday saying he feels, Excellent.  In fact if you ask him anytime during the day that will be his answer, Excellent.  Robert promotes Epilepsy Awareness daily and will talk with anyone and everyone who asks him about it.  Even though Robert can no longer live alone and is living with us now, he does attend a day program and has many friends there.  He loves word search puzzles, Family Feud, Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune, he also watch’s his church shows on television every Sunday.  The church he use to attend when he lived in Modesto still sends a weekly CD with their most recent sermon(s) for him to watch.

With all that Robert has gone through and this is only a third of it, or less, his faith has never faltered, see God came to him during one of his episodes and told him he was not done with him yet.  Faith and family are everything to Robert and I’m proud to call him and have him as my brother.
