Over the past few weeks I have noticed more blogs by people on others having issues with the disabled, where we park, leaving notes on our cars and being down right small minded. I came across the following quote which I think says it all.
“Minds are like parachutes, they only work when open.”
– Thomas Dewar
It is almost as if there are people who are disabled-phobic, (there are) if that is even a word. If not it’s mine. People need to be more open minded and not just “Assume” that what their looking at is exactly what their seeing. As myself, eJourneys, Jane and Denise over on Caregiving.com have said, one does not have to have visible signs of a disability to be disabled, they can have a disability that does not show such as chronic pain, heart or lung issues, back issues and many, many other issues.
So to those of you who make comments, judge or think you know, you don’t. Please open your hearts and Open Your Minds and if your not sure, ask questions.
